Village of Highland Falls Community Power empowers the Village of Highland Falls to pool local electricity demand in order to leverage the collective buying power of residents and small businesses in an effort to secure more favorable terms on their electricity supply, protect consumers, and choose renewable generation sources.

Village of Highland Falls Community Power offers community choice electricity supply.  

Community Choice Electricity SupplY

The Village of Highland Falls has been part of a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) with seven other local villages and towns, using our collective purchasing power to offer fixed rate renewable electricity supply as the default for eligible O&R customers in those villages and towns. At the end of September 2024, our current contract with the electricity supplier Constellation NewEnergy ended after 18 months, as expected. 

At the end of the CCA contract, participating residents were automatically returned to O&R for their electricity supply.

Who is automatically enrolled in the community choice electricity supply offering?

At the time the program launched, residents and small businesses (non-demand customers) that received electricity supply through the utility and did not have a block on their electricity account were notified and automatically enrolled in the program, unless they chose to opt-out before the program launched.

Customers can opt-out or opt-in at any point for no fee.


Who is not automatically enrolled in the community choice electricity supply offering?

Not automatically enrolled in Village of Highland Falls Community Power:   

  • Time of Use Customers   

  • Those who have selected an alternate supplier/ESCO   

  • Larger commercial and all industrial customers with demand meters 

  • Customers with a block on their utility account
